Keller Williams Red Day – a Day of Giving Back to Our Community
RED Day (Renew, Energize and Donate) is an initiative dedicated to celebrating Keller Williams Realty’s year-round commitment to improving their local communities. Each year, on the second Thursday in May, tens of thousands of associates from across the United States, Canada, and internationally participate in a wide range of projects, devoting their time to renewing and energizing aspects of the neighborhoods in which they serve.
Recognizing her leadership in guiding the culture of Keller Williams, RED Day is held in honor of Mo Anderson, vice chairman of the board, Keller Williams Realty.
The vision for this day is that all Keller Williams associates will actively engage in a coordinated effort to improve their local community. Activities run the gamut, including rehabbing a house, cleaning up a local trail, providing food for the homeless or any service related activity needed in your community.
Keller Williams is more than a professional Real Estate Firm. There is an underlining culture that permeates everything its Agents do. RED Day is one more way of giving back to the community we serve.
Since 2013, Keller Williams Clients’ Choice has performed fire mitigation at Cheyenne Village in Manitou Springs for Red Day. Cheyenne Village, for over 40 years, has been the premiere organization in the Pikes Peak region providing a comprehensive array of services for adults with developmental disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and mental retardation, live productive and fulfilling lives. Cheyenne Village was opened more than 40 years ago and is the only locally founded and governed nonprofit of its kind in the Pikes Peak Region.
With the fires in the Colorado Springs area in 2012 and 2013, fire mitigation is a top priority in wooded communities. Cheyenne Village in Manitou Springs is no exception. Keller Williams Clients’ Choice besieges on Cheyenne Village each Red Day to help with their fire mitigation efforts. It is estimated that with our efforts we save Cheyenne Village $50,000 to $75,000 each year. Over 50 Keller Williams Clients’ Choice agents, business partners, and family members participated in removing underbrush, leaves, branches, and dead trees from the area within 100 feet of each building.
In preparation for Red Day, we always advise the new members to dress in layers, wear a hat, and bring a winter coat. It is not uncommon to go from sunny to snow in the 5-6 hours we are working. It is always an adventure.
The ‘Red Day’ event is an entrenched part of Keller Williams Realty’s culture and displays the extraordinary effect a company can have when individuals come together to work as a team for the greater good of everyone.
